The Fara Music Association in collaboration with EMME PRODUZIONI MUSICALI and TUBE Recording Studios, under the patronage of the Municipality of Fara Sabina, is organizing this year as well the FARA MUSIC JAZZ LIVE AWARDS (from July the 21st to July the 27th) a musical contest targeting young talents.

The contest is open to bands coming from all over Europe that are not tied by any recording or publishing contract for the time being and that are willing to present a project that is far from the pop music standards, more tending stylistically towards any jazz genre (classic jazz, contemporary jazz, acid jazz, fusion jazz, blues/jazz etc.). The contest will prefer formations which will present unpublished and original projects. The prize will consist in the possibility to open the concerts of the main Artists that will be taking part in the Eighth Edition of the FARA Music Festival of 2014 (from July 21st to July 27th).

The groups that will make it to the finals will be evaluated throughout the evenings by a technical jury chaired by the Artistic Director of the Fara Music Festival, Mr. Enrico Moccia and by: Peter Bernstein, Jonathan Kreisberg, Fabio Zeppetella, Matt Penman, Dario Deidda, Jason Lindner, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Roberto Gatto, Colin Stranahan, Cinzia Spata, Raffaella Misiti, Susanna Stivali, Gabriell Aiello, Claudio Fabro, Andrea Rodini together with technical operators such as producers, journalists and managers.

The technical jury will assign the following prizes:
• For the best band, overall winner of the contest: the production and publishing of a recording project to be entirely realized at TUBE RECORDING STUDIOS with the artistic and executive production of EMME MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS.

• For the best solo performance: the participation to the workshops of 2015 Fara Music Summer School.

Fara Music Jazz Live Award

The Contest Phases:
1. The selection of the groups that will perform during the Fara Music Festival. The staff of the Fara Music Festival will select the finalists by listening to the MP3 demos that will be submitted to them (from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 8), These finalists will perform on the central stage of the 2014 Fara Music Festival, from July 21st to July 27th, opening the concert evening of the main artists.

2. The exhibition of the finalists will be characterized both by the original and unpublished songs and by a maximum of two standards, and also by the fact that it will be based upon the interpretation of a musical composition (that will have to be sent by mail by the organizers of the festival to the bands in contest 20 days before the performance) written especially for the bands that will enter the finals by the pros that will take part in the technical jury. The composition (8 or 12 written measures, including the melody and harmony) will not have further references (they will serve as cue) so that the finalists will be able to interpret it to their own taste and develop independently the written tracks during the final performance. The membership fee in order to participate to the necessary expenses for the enrollment to the Fara Music Live Jazz Awards is of €50 per Band. The enrollment must be entered by July 11th 2014.

2.The Prizes

2A. The overall winning band will obtain the production and publishing of a recording project to be entirely realized at TUBE RECORDING STUDIOS with the artistic and executive production of EMME MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS.
Moreover, they will get a managing contract with Emme Musical Productions.
2B. The finalist bands will open the concerts of the main artists during the evenings of the 2014 Fara Music Festival.

The development of a musical composition: A musical composition will be sent by mail by the organizers of the festival to the bands in contest 20 days before the performance written especially for the bands that will enter the finals by the pros that will take part in the technical jury. The composition (8 or 12 written measures, including the melody and harmony) will not have further references (they will serve as cue) so that the finalists will be able to interpret it to their own taste and develop independently the written tracks during the final performance..

4. In order to participate to the contest it is necessary to have an unreleased songs and standards repertoire of no less than 50 minutes (5 songs, of which 3 at least must be originals) and a demo of at least two songs of which one must be original or you will be penalized with the exclusion from the contest.
5. The projects that will be admitted are the ones that will take a distance from the pop music standards and that will rather tend to the jazz range (classic jazz, contemporary jazz, acid jazz, fusion/jazz, blues/jazz), in any language or dialect.
6. Other than the unreleased, original tracks, performances of released songs, covers or standards are admitted up to a maximum of three. Each artist when enrolling declares the originality of the presented songs and raises the organization from any liability.
7. The association fee which includes participation to the expenses needed for the enrollment to the Fara Music Live Jazz Awards is of € 50 per Band. The enrollment must be carried out by July 11th 2014.

The mp3 files must be named by specifying the title of the song and the name of the band (title/band.mp3) while the file relating to the enrollment form will have to be named with the band’s name (nameofband.com).
8D. Send an email to info@faramusic.it communicating the occurred upload of the file and specifying the name of the band.

9. The artists/bands will have to show up in the established dates and locations with maximum punctuality and be available to the organization. The artists that will be selected will have to show up at the contest with a valid ID and the necessary material for their performance.
10. The organization reclines any responsibilities for possible delays do to external factors such as postal mishandling, telematic problems etc. The material sent will not be returned in any case.
11. The band, by enrolling in the International Fara Miusc Live Jazz Awards, endorses and accepts in each and every part of this regulation, freeing the organization from any direct or indirect liability, implicitly authorizing the organization to associate its name to the name or brand of all trading partners and the media of the “International Fara Music Live Jazz Awards.” In particular, artists and members of the selected group give up from now on on the request of any right of exploitation, of photographing, phonograph, radio and television live performances.

12. The organization reserves the right to make, at the end of the initiative, more copies of both audio supports and of the promotional paper works containing the tracks of the participants of the Fara Music Live Jazz Awards. The artists, by accepting the enrollment rules, give permission to the inclusion of their track within the promotional material. .
13.There will be no refunds of travel expenses nor cachet nor food or accommodation. The organization will provide dinner and preferential rates on overnight stays at local affiliated facilities to the groups who pass the qualifying stages. Every particular need for backline will have to be promptly agreed with the organizer.
14. The Organization reserves the right to modify the present regulation, bringing additions and / or modifications that may be necessary for organizational and functional reasons in order to have a successful outcome of the Festival, without previously informing the participants. This applies also to dates which will be communicated throughout the website and this will be done at the organization’s sole discretion, without prejudice to the right of withdrawal of the artists.
15. Any dispute which may arise concerning the interpretation of this regulation is exclusively competent judicial authority of Rieti.
16. All the bands entering the finals agree to sign a release, contained in the enrollment form , in which they declare that they have no objections or claims in the regards of the organization directly or indirectly through the subjects or technical partners involved in the Festival throughout television shootings, web, photographers, radio, interviews, etc., with footage of the songs and / or footage of their own performance. The organization can authorize one or more broadcasters, radio stations or any other kind of medias to record the event for use in their programming without any additional permission and without having to refund any finalists of the contest, neither for the evening nor for the future. The Organization expressly reserves themselves the power to exclude from the festival at any time and without any refunds those who will not comply with this Regulation.
17. Privacy Policy
The use of personal data will be managed in respect of what is established by the article 11 of law 675/96 and the legislative decree 196/2003, relating to the protection of privacy. This clause is deemed accepted unless express written notification to the contrary.

The organization will communicate through email within two weeks from the date of the finals of the Fara Music Live Jazz Awards the names of those who will be admitted to the final phase with the date and place where the artists will perform; the list will be published also on the faramusic.it website.
